Autumn 1997. Venue: The New Holmwood Hotel, Cowes.
A number of style influences created this collection. From the 1950's to the modern Bridal/evening gown in ethnic fabrics.
An Elizabeth Smith couture 'balloon cut' gown in cappuccino satin with coffee chiffon upper bodice and ruched sleeves .This gown features hand made camellia flowers that decorate the scallope edged train at the back. This gown was inspired by a 50's pattern block.
An off-the-peg straight gown, in satin with a lace overlay to the bodice. This gown has a detachable chiffon train.
An Indian sari-inspired outfit in jade green, metallic gold and cerise pink is a far cry from the traditional wedding gown. The three-piece outfit has a wrap-around sari skirt, a boned and buttoned bodice, and a Nehru-style, fitted jacket. Created from a single sari length of hand-loomed Indian fabric, this outfit has be re-created from several different sari fabrics.
Spring 1997. Venue: The Peacock Vane Hotel, Bonchurch.
The opulent surroundings of Peacock Vane ( one of the locations used for TV period drama of 'Lady Chatterleys lover' ) made a stunning backdrop for this collection.
Above: Empire line gown in dark ivory silk duchess satin and gold 'Opheila' damask with detachable train. The Fleur de Lys princess line gown in oriental blue and ivory silk, with matching jacket.
Below: Is a separate bodice and skirt in old rose pink silk and antique gold damask. Flowers, veils and tiaras from a selection made by E.S.Bridal.
